Coverage & mixing basics

  • Code requires a water-resistive barrier behind stucco; over wood-based sheathing, stucco assemblies call for two layers or a drainage-equivalent product. Check the spec for which.
  • Sheet wraps are estimated by wall area plus laps; liquid membranes by area at the manufacturer's spread rate on the data sheet. We convert either into rolls or pails.
  • Flashing tape goes at every window, door, penetration and seam. Count openings and measure their perimeters; add for laps.
  • Barriers and tapes should come from compatible systems — some liquid membranes and tapes do not bond to each other. Ask before you mix brands.

Do I need two layers of building paper behind stucco?+

Over wood-based sheathing, stucco codes commonly require two layers of a water-resistive barrier or an approved drainage-equivalent product. Bring the spec and we confirm what your assembly needs.

Do you carry liquid-applied water barriers?+

Yes. Liquid-applied membranes are stocked alongside sheet wraps and flashing tapes, so the whole barrier layer comes from one counter.
