Coverage & mixing basics
- Weep screed goes at the base of every framed stucco wall — it sets the bottom edge and lets water drain out of the assembly. Measure the wall perimeter at the foundation line.
- Control joints limit cracking by breaking the wall into panels. Common practice is panels no larger than about 144 sq ft with no side longer than 18 ft; the spec governs.
- Count corners, window and door edges, and terminations from the drawings — each one gets a bead. Order in standard 10-ft lengths and add for cuts.
- Match the metal to the exposure: galvanized for most work, zinc or PVC where the spec asks for extra corrosion resistance or near salt or chemicals.
Guidance only. Coverage, mixing and installation are governed by the product data sheet and the project spec — bring both to the counter and we size the order with you.
Questions crews ask
Do you stock weep screed?+
Yes. Weep screed is in stock in standard lengths, along with casing bead, corner aid, control joints and plaster stops.
Where do control joints go on a stucco wall?+
Where the drawings show them, and in general spaced to keep each panel small enough to limit cracking. Bring the elevations to the counter and we count them with you.
Do you carry PVC or zinc trims as well as galvanized?+
Yes. Galvanized is the common choice; zinc and PVC profiles are stocked or sourced for specs that call for them.
